Does my phone support eSIM?
The marketing model name is not always enough. The same phone can be sold in different regional variants, and some devices may be locked to the carrier that sold them.
Short answer
Look for the option to add an eSIM in the network settings, verify the full model and sales region on the manufacturer’s official specifications, and confirm that the phone is carrier-unlocked. Complete all three checks before payment.
Check the settings menu
On iPhone, look for “Add eSIM” under Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data. On Samsung, look under Settings → Connections → SIM manager. On Pixel and other Android devices, the path is often Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM.
Menu labels vary by software version and language. A missing option can mean an unsupported model, a regional variant without eSIM, a carrier restriction or software that needs updating.
Check the full model and sales region
Open About phone/About in settings and note the complete model number. Compare it with the manufacturer’s official specification for that exact variant, not only the marketing name.
Some device families support eSIM only in certain generations or markets. General compatibility lists can become outdated, so official specifications and the information on your own device take priority.

Check carrier lock status
A phone may contain eSIM hardware but still reject a profile from another carrier. On iPhone, Carrier Lock under Settings → General → About normally shows the status. Android labels vary; ask the carrier that supplied the phone when in doubt.
Paying off the device or ending a contract does not necessarily remove a lock automatically. Only the relevant carrier can confirm or remove it.

Do not rely only on an EID code or an unofficial list. Some phones show an EID in device information, but the strongest check combines exact model, regional variant, menu option and lock status.
Before buying, send support the full model number and a screenshot of the SIM menu without exposing your IMEI or other sensitive identifiers.
