Help choosing a plan
Which data plan fits your trip?
- Fixed data: a set allowance for your trip. Check both the GB and the validity period.
- Unlimited: check the daily full-speed allowance and any reduced-speed limits on the plan.
- Maps and messaging usually use less data than video. Downloads, video calls and hotspot sharing can use much more.

Montenegro
Examples of travel destinations: Podgorica, Budva, Kotor and Ulcinj. Network coverage and signal depend on the selected plan, local networks and your location.
A narrow coast with mountains behind it
Coverage is good in Budva, Kotor and Tivat, but the Bay of Kotor is ringed by high mountains and the signal fluctuates depending on where you stand. In Durmitor and on the mountain roads it drops for stretches.
In summer the coastal network gets crowded. If you need reliable navigation, download the offline map of the coast before you set off.
Short summer, loaded network
The coastal season is short and intense. In July and August speeds drop in Budva and Kotor because the network carries many visitors at once — this affects every operator, not just the eSIM.
Montenegro is not in the EU. Your German or Swiss line is charged at its own rates; switch data roaming off and use the eSIM.

When should I install my eSIM for Montenegro?

Can I keep my number and WhatsApp?
On most phones you can keep your primary line enabled and use the eSIM for data. Exact settings depend on your device and primary carrier.
Is the signal the same everywhere in Montenegro?
