How to install an eSIM on Google Pixel
Google Pixel uses Android’s network settings to add an eSIM. Paths and labels can vary with Android version, carrier or device region.
Short answer
Go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM, choose Set up an eSIM, scan the QR code and assign the profile to Mobile data. At the destination, enable Roaming only on the eSIM when required by the plan.
Steps
Verify the device
Check the full model, region and carrier lock. Update Android and connect to Wi‑Fi.
Open SIM settings
In Settings, choose Network & internet, then SIMs or the plus icon next to the SIM list.
Choose eSIM setup
Tap Add SIM, then Set up an eSIM or Download a SIM instead, depending on the displayed version.
Scan or enter details
Scan the QR code from another screen. If available, use the manual-code option with the exact details in your account.
Assign mobile data
Label the profile “Travel”, enable Use SIM and select it under Mobile data. Disable automatic data switching when you do not want primary-SIM data.
Finish at the destination
Enable Roaming as required by the plan, leave network selection automatic at first and allow a few minutes for registration.
Different Android menu labels
Android versions may use “Add SIM”, “Download a SIM” or “Set up an eSIM”. Use Settings search if the path is not identical.
If none of these options appears, do not force installation with an unknown app. Verify the Pixel variant and carrier lock.
Dual SIM and mobile data
Depending on the model, Pixel can keep the primary line for calls and texts while the eSIM supplies data. Check the assignments under Calls, SMS and Mobile data.
Features such as Switch mobile data automatically can move data to the other line. Turn them off if your goal is to avoid primary-SIM roaming charges.
Check after installation
The profile should appear under SIMs even if no supported network is available where you are. No signal before arrival does not necessarily indicate failure.
Do not delete the profile. At the destination, check the line, roaming, supplied APN and automatic network selection before requesting support.
