Help choosing a plan
Which data plan fits your trip?
- Fixed data: a set allowance for your trip. Check both the GB and the validity period.
- Unlimited: check the daily full-speed allowance and any reduced-speed limits on the plan.
- Maps and messaging usually use less data than video. Downloads, video calls and hotspot sharing can use much more.

12 plans are active for Oman, 1 GB – 20 GB, valid for 3 days – 30 days. Prices start at €1.99. Validity begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network, not when you buy it. Travelling across several countries or continents? This destination is also covered by the Global plan.
Desert, wadis and long empty distances
Oman is long and thinly populated between its towns. On the drives between the coast and the interior there are whole stretches where the signal does not just slow down, it disappears, so download your offline map and the coordinates of tonight’s camp before you leave the last town.
Muscat, Nizwa, Sur and Salalah are a different story and you will stay connected normally there. Treat off-road tracks into the wadis and desert camps as no-service zones: tell someone your route for the day and do not depend on live navigation once the asphalt ends.
Your home line in Oman
Oman is not covered by the European roaming rules, so usage here is normally not included in your tariff. Check what your operator charges per megabyte in Oman before you fly, because it is often a daily rate that a single map download is enough to trigger.
With the eSIM your data comes from the package you bought instead of your home bill. Keep the home line on for bank messages only, switch its roaming data off, and go one size up if you plan long driving days, since live maps are what actually burn through data.

Frequently asked questions
Does my phone need to support eSIM?
Yes. Your device must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Check the exact model and sales region before purchase.
When should I install my eSIM for Oman?
Read the plan instructions before departure. You can install it over Wi‑Fi, while the validity start depends on the plan conditions confirmed before payment.
Can I keep my number and WhatsApp?
On most phones you can keep your primary line enabled and use the eSIM for data. Exact settings depend on your device and primary carrier.
Is the signal the same everywhere in Oman?
No. Coverage and speed depend on the local network, location, device and network load. Review the listed networks when they are available on the plan.
Will it work in the wadis and the desert?
In the cities and along the main highways, yes. Deep in the wadis, inside canyons and at camps far off the asphalt, coverage drops or vanishes entirely, and that applies to any SIM, not just an eSIM. Once you are back on the main road the phone finds the network on its own, and the eSIM does not need reinstalling or reactivating.
Should I buy a bigger package than usual?
If you stay around Muscat and the towns, a small package covers you. Once you head inland, remember that hotel and café wi-fi runs out too: the evening photo upload and the call home from camp have to come out of the same package, so plan it wider.
